When President Donald Trump spoke about his economic policies in Las Vegas this week, the internet noticed something different about the commander-in-chief — a fuller head of golden locks.
Trump’s potentially new do debuted at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, Aug. 5. During his speech, the president lauded his administration’s economic accomplishments, according to previous reporting, like tax breaks on tipped income, lower prescription drug prices and “Trump accounts.”
But even as Trump tried to center focus on the country’s economic outlook, the internet couldn’t help but notice the president’s full and shiny hair, sparking viral memes and even rumors he was wearing a wig.
Journalist Aaron Rupar immediately questioned the new mane on social media. “Trump’s hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal,” he posted on X. Rupar added: “Is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?”
Other observers weighed in with varying degrees of skepticism and praise. “There is no freaken way that this is Trump’s real hair. NO WAY!” wrote Brian Krassenstein. Conversely, some were impressed, with one user commenting on X: “I do NOT care what anyone says. This is proof that President Trump is aging in reverse. His hair looks absolutely amazing today.”
has emailed the White House for comment regarding the president’s hair. The president’s signature tresses and orange glow have long been hallmarks of his public brand, and Trump has previously admitted that his hair is a touchy subject.
While speaking at the 2018 Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Trump said: “I try like hell to hide that bald spot, folks. I work hard at it.” That same year, the president’s physician revealed that Trump takes a drug to combat male-pattern baldness.
