A violent incident in Billings, Montana, has left multiple people dead, including children, after a reported family disturbance escalated into a shooting and a house fire. Local authorities responded to a 911 call at 6:01 p.m. on Sunday, August 23. During the emergency call, dispatchers reported hearing gunfire in the background, prompting an immediate police response.
Assistant Chief of Police Shawn Mayo stated that officers arrived at the scene approximately 11 minutes after the initial call and encountered further gunfire. Upon approaching the property, police discovered a male in the backyard and took him into custody. Officials later confirmed that the suspect was transported to a hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, where he subsequently died.
As the situation unfolded, the residence became fully engulfed in flames, requiring an emergency response from the Billings Fire Department. Sheriff Kent O’Donnell of Yellowstone County confirmed that multiple adults and children were killed in the incident.
