In a political messaging move ahead of the November elections, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 220-192-2 on Tuesday to formally denounce socialism “in all its forms.” The resolution, which also reaffirms support for the SAVE America Act, passed with the backing of all Republicans and eight Democrats.
The Democratic members who crossed party lines to support the measure were Kathy Castor of Florida, Henry Cuellar of Texas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Jared Golden of Maine, Vicente Gonzalez of Texas, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, Darren Soto of Florida, and Gabe Vasquez of New Mexico. We believe in a capitalist system and rules and laws,” Aguilar said. “But what Republicans are seeking to do here is to just add in another talking point where they can talk about the SAVE Act.”
