Presley Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Casamigos cofounder Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.
According to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records, he passed away on Sunday, Sept. 20, at a rehab facility. His death was first reported by TMZ.
A publicist representing Crawford confirmed the passing in a statement to the press, requesting privacy for the family during a challenging and painful period.
An autopsy is currently pending completion, while official details regarding the specific cause and manner of death have not yet been disclosed to the public.
Born in Beverly Hills, California, in 1999, Presley Gerber grew up surrounded by high-profile fashion and entertainment circles as the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.
He launched his fashion career at age 15 by signing with IMG Models. He later made his runway debut for Moschino in Los Angeles at 17, walked for Dolce & Gabbana, and featured in international campaigns for Calvin Klein and Celine.
Alongside his public profile, he faced documented personal challenges, including a 2018 DUI arrest in Beverly Hills where he later pleaded no contest and received three years of probation alongside community service.
In 2020, he drew significant attention when he debuted a face tattoo bearing the word “MISUNDERSTOOD,” explaining in a video that it reflected how he felt throughout his life before eventually removing the ink.
He later became open about his mental health journey, describing depression and related struggles as a constant 24-hour responsibility during a podcast appearance in February 2023, while expressing a desire to support others facing similar difficulties.
His advocacy continued through a social media video series titled “Mental Health Mondays,” though he revealed in a December 2025 video that he relied on medications such as Buprenorphine, Xanax, and Valium to manage panic symptoms.
In March, he shared in an Instagram post that he underwent an ibogaine flood dose, describing the plant-based psychoactive compound experience as frightening but instrumental in confronting personal challenges.
His sister, Kaia Gerber, addressed their family dynamic and his decade-long struggle with substance addiction in an August magazine interview, noting that such hardships impact the entire household.
Presley Gerber is survived by his parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, as well as his sister Kaia Gerber.
